Terms of Service

These terms set out the basis on which you can use Pets in World. We have kept them short and readable rather than filling them with legal boilerplate, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

Last updated: 29 August 2026 Applies to: petsinworld.online

The short version

  • The site is free to use and needs no account.
  • The calculators give estimates, not individualised advice for your animal.
  • We are not veterinarians and nothing here replaces one.
  • You decide what to feed your pet. We provide a starting figure; the judgement stays with you and your vet.
  • Be reasonable with the site and we will be reasonable with you.

This summary is for convenience. The sections below are the actual terms.

SECTION 01

Acceptance of terms

By using petsinworld.online, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

That is the whole mechanism. There is no account to create and no box to tick, so using the site is how agreement happens. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you are confirming you have the authority to accept these terms for them.

These terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled, and our Disclaimer.

SECTION 02

Website use

You are welcome to use Pets in World for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Read the guides, run the calculators as often as you like, and share links with anyone who might find them useful. None of that needs our permission.

There are a few things we ask you not to do, and they are the ordinary ones:

  • Do not try to interfere with the site, its security, or the servers it runs on.
  • Do not use automated tools to download the site at scale or in a way that places an unreasonable load on it.
  • Do not use the site for anything unlawful, or to send us abusive or deliberately misleading messages through the contact form.
  • Do not misrepresent our content as your own, or present it in a way that suggests we endorse something we do not.

If someone is doing one of these things, we may restrict their access to the site. We would rather not, and in practice this almost never comes up.

SECTION 03

Calculator use

The Pet Food Calculator and any other tools on this site are provided free of charge for you to use as often as you want. There is no usage limit and no registration.

The tools run entirely in your browser. You enter your pet’s details, code running on your own device performs the arithmetic, and the result is displayed back to you. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.

Because of this, results are not saved between visits. If you want to keep a figure, write it down or take a screenshot before you close the page.

We show the method behind each calculation on the tool page itself, including the formulas and the factors applied. That is deliberate. You are entitled to see how a number was produced before deciding what to do with it.

SECTION 04

Informational nature of results

The Pet Food Calculator provides estimates. Its output is a general starting figure calculated from published feeding formulas and the details you enter. It is not individualised veterinary or nutritional advice, and it should not be treated as a prescription for your particular animal.

Everything on this site, including calculator results, guides and answers in the FAQ, is published for general informational and educational purposes.

The formulas behind the calculators describe a typical animal of a given species and weight. Your pet is a specific animal with its own metabolism, breed characteristics, body condition, health status and history, none of which a web form can see. Two pets of identical weight can genuinely need different amounts of food.

So the right way to use a result is as a reference point you monitor and adjust from, alongside the feeding guidance on your food packaging and, where it matters, the advice of a veterinarian who has examined your animal.

SECTION 05

No professional veterinary advice

Pets in World is not a veterinary practice. We hold no veterinary or animal-nutrition qualifications, and we do not claim any. Nothing on this site is veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment, and using the site does not create any professional relationship between you and us.

Please take the following to a qualified veterinarian rather than to a website:

  • Any illness, injury, symptom or change in your pet’s condition.
  • Medication, supplements, prescription diets or therapeutic feeding.
  • Planned weight loss or weight gain programmes.
  • Pregnancy, nursing, or recovery from illness or surgery.
  • Weight that is changing without a deliberate change to feeding.
  • Loss of appetite or refusal to eat.

Please do not delay seeking professional help, or disregard advice a veterinarian has already given you, because of something you read here. If a situation looks urgent, contact a veterinarian immediately rather than researching first.

SECTION 06

Accuracy limitations

We put real effort into getting things right. The formulas are drawn from established feeding equations, the arithmetic is tested, and the method is published openly so it can be checked. Even so, we cannot promise that everything on the site is accurate, complete or current at all times.

Some specific limits are worth stating plainly:

  • Estimates carry uncertainty. Published formulas are built on population averages, so an individual animal may need meaningfully more or less than the calculated figure.
  • Accuracy varies by species. Dogs and cats use a well-established equation. Rabbits, birds and small rodents use simplified species-specific estimates and are labelled as rough on the result itself, because applying the dog and cat equation to them would produce a confident-looking number that means very little.
  • Your inputs drive the output. A wrong weight, unit or calorie figure produces a wrong result, and the calculator has no way to know.
  • Guidance changes. Nutritional understanding develops over time, and content that was accurate when written may not stay so.
If you find an error, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections are genuinely more useful to us than compliments, and we would rather fix something than leave it standing.
SECTION 07

Your responsibilities

You know your pet and we do not, so decisions about their care remain yours. When you use this site, you are responsible for:

  • Entering accurate information. Check the weight, the unit and the calorie figure on your packaging before relying on a result.
  • Reading the food label. The manufacturer’s feeding guidance is specific to that product and should be read alongside any estimate from us.
  • Judging whether a result makes sense for your animal, and seeking professional advice where it matters.
  • Monitoring your pet. Weigh them regularly and watch body condition rather than assuming a calculated figure remains correct indefinitely.
  • Making changes gradually. If an estimate differs a lot from current feeding, move towards it over several days rather than in one step.
  • Using the site lawfully and in line with section 2.
SECTION 08

Intellectual property

The content of this site, including the text, layout, design, graphics and the code behind the calculators, belongs to Pets in World unless stated otherwise.

What you may do

  • Read, print or save pages for your own personal use.
  • Share links to any page, anywhere, without asking us.
  • Quote a short passage in an article, forum post or discussion, provided you credit Pets in World and link back to the page you took it from.

What we ask you not to do

  • Republish substantial parts of our content on another site, in print or in an app.
  • Copy the calculator code or reproduce a tool as your own.
  • Remove or alter attribution, or present our material as coming from someone else.

Underlying feeding formulas and scientific equations are not ours and we make no claim over them. They are published knowledge in the field, and we would not want to suggest otherwise. What belongs to us is our particular implementation, wording and presentation.

If you would like to use something in a way not covered above, just ask through the contact page. We are generally reasonable about it.

SECTION 10

Website availability

We aim to keep Pets in World available and working, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access. Sites go down for maintenance, hosting problems, connectivity issues and occasionally for reasons nobody anticipated.

We may also change, update or remove parts of the site, including tools and content, without notice. If a calculator changes in a way that would alter the results people get, we would normally explain the change on the tool page rather than making it silently.

We do not guarantee that the site will be free of errors or that any defect will be corrected within a particular time, though we do fix things we know about.

SECTION 11

Limitation of liability

This section is deliberately moderate. We are not going to try to sign away every possible responsibility, because terms that attempt that are often unenforceable and are not a fair way to treat visitors.

What we do say is this: the site and its tools are provided as they are, for general information. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or harm arising from your reliance on estimates, guides or other content here, including decisions about what or how much to feed an animal.

That reflects the reality of the situation rather than an attempt to escape accountability. We cannot see your pet, we do not know their history, and the judgement about their care is necessarily yours and your veterinarian’s.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where the law does not permit it. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything written here.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [INSERT COUNTRY OR JURISDICTION], and any dispute would be dealt with by the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in the country where you live, and it does not prevent you from bringing a claim locally where the law of your country allows it.

SECTION 12

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example if we add a new tool or change how something on the site works.

When we do, we will change the Last Updated date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be described rather than slipped in quietly. Continuing to use the site after an update means the revised terms apply to you, so it is worth glancing at the date if you have not visited for a while.

We will not apply changes retroactively to something that has already happened.

SECTION 13

Contact information

If anything in these terms is unclear, or you want to ask about using our content, get in touch. Pets in World is an online-only project, so the form and the email address below are the routes that reach us.

Questions about these terms

Email: hello@petsinworld.online

Or use the contact form and choose “General website question” as the subject.

We read everything that comes in. Please include enough detail for us to understand what you are asking about.

Before publishing — delete this box afterwards

Three things need your input. Everything else on this page is ready as written.

  • Governing law in section 11 — replace [INSERT COUNTRY OR JURISDICTION] with the country you operate from. This is the one item that cannot sensibly be guessed, since it determines which courts apply.
  • Last updated date in the header — currently 29 August 2026. Change it whenever you edit this page.
  • Create the mailbox at hello@petsinworld.online, which section 13, the footer and the contact page all reference.

These terms are written in good faith and in plain language, but they are not legal advice. If the site grows or begins earning meaningfully, it is worth having them reviewed by someone qualified in your jurisdiction.
